As we understand the situation, holding a mic` is definitely not illegal. We have taken this information from the governments web site.

The problem that you might get, is if you are seen using a mic when you should be concentrating on your driving, high traffic, junction etc. You could then end up with a prosecution for not driving with due care and attention or whatever.

Below is a link to download the legislation, look at the bottom of page one where it says two-way radio`s are excluded from the mobile phone law. It might be a good idea to print this out (it`s only 4 pages) to keep handy just in case you do get stopped.
